Glenda's Garden Update: Greenhouse!

It has been a cold Spring here on the West Coast of Canada. While trying to figure out how to keep our tomato plants warm and dry in our first big garden, we got a little carried away...and decided to build a greenhouse! Problem solved! Although my boyfriend had a lot of work ahead of him.

We are renting and didn't want to spend a fortune on a backyard structure so he played around with the design, and came up with an economical beauty. He was inspired by the frame of a canoe. I think it looks like whale ribs. Either way, it's pretty spectacular! We are looking forward to a nice long growing season now...

Below is one of 12 rogue pumpkins that have sprouted up in the garden. We buried (well, James and Rhonda our housemates did - thanks!!) the 100 pounds of pumpkins we used for Halloween last year. They fertilized the soil and will provide pumpkins for next Halloween - sweet.
