Lily Inspiration: The French!

I'm usually not one for advertising, but lately I've found myself mesmerized by those Stella Artois ads--you know the ones I'm talking about. Everything in them just seems so fresh and effortless and playfully sexy and so...so, well, French!

Ah, the French, always so chic, no matter what. For instance, while my grandma can barely be bothered to get out of her sweats for anything these days (sorry, Gran!), the above pictured Parisian gal is completely put together, rocking an insanely awesome pink overcoat like it ain't no thing. And don't get me started on the gentleman below--le sigh. I'm not sure how many (straight) North American men can pull off a $400 silk scarf, let alone with such offhand élan, but this guy even manages to *almost* make smoking look good. Yikes! (I should probably mention that both of these photos were cribbed from The Sartorialist, an endlessly entertaining fashion blog that I highly recommend.)

So, in the spirit of the French, may you have a fabulous weekend filled with good food, great wine, and fabulously chic outfits!

...and, before anyone else says it, Yes!, I know that Stella ad comparing a woman to a glass of beer is ridiculously insulting. I have no idea why I like it!!

That song always makes me giggle...incessantly. Nice way to start a Friday. Thanks Erin!

We have some wool berets in the shop for only $10 that would be the perfect start to a French inspired outfit for the weekend. They come in grey and blue.

Ayez un week-end agréable!

Yes! The effortless style of the French, always.

I often frequent Garance Doré's blog, and she has such a lovely way of writing...

Oooh, I think she's Mr. Sartorialist's main squeeze--will have to check that out. Thanks for the tip, Mia!
