Lily Home: Elegant Linen Throws

Trish has concocted the most beautiful summer throws of all time. They are perfect for draping over your legs on cool summer evenings, pretty as tablecloths, and I think they would make the most charming picnic blankets. They are made with Italian linen, vintage lace, awesome Lily prints and plenty of love...

Lily Projects

Some exciting things are happening around here, despite almost all of our sewing ladies being away (Steph is about to have a baby any second, Nicole is galavanting around New York City, and Joanne is in her hometown, Gibsons Landing)!

We still have many projects on the go, of course, and here is a little sampling:

Trish is recovering this chair with fabric printed in
our new garlic print!

Furniture waiting to be rejuvenated with new fabric...

Our newest addition to our Cypress skirt collection:
black linen with a grey ship!

New blankets with a variety of beautiful prints and
finished with lace trim...

Vintage miniature tea sets...Trish is still deciding what to do with them.

Grey Squirrel Hunter tunics ready for printing...

and Korrine sewing Lucrezia dresses in Stormy Night fabric!

We are fortunate to be sending our goods all over the world, to Smoking Lily fans near and far, through our online mail orders. Sometimes we wonder who all these great people are, and what they are doing in their lives? We would love to know what you are up to out there! If you have time in your busy life, we would be thrilled to receive a photo of you, doing something fun (or mundane) while wearing Smoking Lily goods. We also thought it would be fun to post them on our blog! You can send them to info@smokinglily.com.

Lost Blogs

Yesterday I wrote a blog about these great Kid's Hassocks we have and how they are just perfect for all stages of infancy throughout young childhood--but Blogger had some issue apparently and has lost my post. I'm still hoping that it will magically re-appear, but since I can't remember exactly what I wrote, here is the short of it:

Small Hassock $110, Large Hassock $210

Freshly printed Hassock panels

Lily Home: Vintage Napkins

We continue to be unable to resist the allure of old linens. Vintage napkins, aprons, doilies and handkerchiefs all find their way into our studio to be revived with Lily prints and set out to find new homes.

These napkins (I found a set of 10!) caught my eye as they have been hemmed with what looked to me like lines from a heart monitor. Odd and attractive = irresistable! Plus they come with the sweetest cross-stitched floral design, bonus. We took the suggestion of heart beats and adorned the napkins with Anatomical Heart and Sparks prints.

These napkins are available for sale at the Vancouver Shop (6 0f them) and The Milkman's Daughter (4 of them) for $6 each.

Lily at HOME: Rachael's Terrariums

So Rachael really dislikes writing on the blog, but she enjoys doing the jobs that others here hate, plus she's a pretty awesome co-worker, so she gets a pass. This week for Lily At Home we are writing about her side project, Fat Dog. She has been making fabulous terrariums using pretty ferns and mosses with hummingbird nests, eggs, bird skulls, and interesting trinkets adorn antique and new glass wear.

Here's Rachael's information on the terrariums:

"The glass vessels are both new and used, some from thrift stores, some from discount stores. The nests are from my back yard. Some of the plants (like the ferns and moss) are foraged from the woods. The closed terrariums should establish themselves to be their own environment, taking care of themselves. They do like it if you take the lid off once in a while for fresh air, but if all works out, and the plants are friends, they will make their own ecosystem. I am going to try some cactus and succulent terrariums soon - they will be open ones."

Fat Dog Terrariums (and men's ties!) available at Milkman's Daughter.

Lily Home: New Duvet Sets

Here are some photos of our new duvet sets. We took these photos at the request of Western Living magazine--exciting.

There are two styles: all over printed ($240 for the duvet and 2 pillow cases) and patchwork ($315 for the set).

The first shots are of the all over printed variety. Yes, that is an appliqued anatomical heart!

The following shots are of the patchwork duvet set:

Lily Home: New Tea Towels!

I had it all planned out that I was going to do this awesome blog post using my Smoking Lily tea cozy and matching cocktail napkin set today. Alas.

The time came faster than I thought (I was in the store yesterday! It was busy!) So here I am showing you something else... something just as cool, but just not quite as "at use in my home" as I would like to demonstrate... actually... hold on, I might have a Facebook photo of a crepe breakfast tea party I recently hosted!.... Yes, I do!! You may be able to seek out the hidden Smoking Lily items amongst the table. (A sort of where's Waldo of tea accoutrements per say.)

Okay, so here it is, a very cool -brand new- black checked tea towel with seahorse print, and a photo of my kitchen table overflowing with flowers, food, and my favourite matching red with scissors tea cozy and matching napkins! (Yes, those are bobbins as well as scissors on the tea cozy... I am such a sewing nerd... mmm crepes...)
