Vancouver Update: Hanami Earrings

We have a full range of Hanami Earrings in the Vancouver and Victoria shops right now.

These lightweight, pretty and quirky earrings are made by Brenda MacDonald, a Montreal based jewelry designer who studied Fashion Design and now works in the fashion industry in Montreal. Brenda started making the Hanami accessories line as a personal outlet for her creativity.

There is a heavy influence of Japanese kitschy cuteness and floral detail in her work, a result of her having lived in Japan for 5 years. Brenda is also inspired by vintage patterned fabrics and papers. As well, animals feature prominently on many of her pieces, including mythical ones. She says "I do so wish that the Jackalope were a real creature...!" (Photo of the jackalope earrings to come soon.)

All the earrings featured below are her own designs printed on paper and hand-coated in resin. They are light weight and durable. The earrings are just $20 a pair.

Victoria Shop Update: Erica Weiner Jewelry

We are very excited to see Brooklyn-based designer Erica Weiner in this month's issue of Ready Made magazine! Her vintage-inspired, fun, fabulous creations are available in our Johnson Street (Victoria) and Main Street (Vancouver) stores.

Mother Nature may have brought us rain, but Erica Weiner has brought us jewelry! Last week a brand new batch of fantastic and curious pieces arrived at Smoking Lily. We have a little something for everyone whether you are tickled over the idea of having a miniature "Freewheelin" harmonica necklace for those spontaneous jam sessions, or the "Penknife" necklace for those situations when you may find yourself in a bind.

New Jewelry: Brevity & Erica Weiner

New necklaces and earrings have landed in the Smoking Lily shops. First, introducing Brevity. The white and black acrylic pieces feature geometric shapes and spring time flair. Perfect for embellishing a bright sundress or wearing to a summer bbq.

Erica Weiner continues to add romantic pieces to her collection including a mini skeleton key, a micrometer and the crossword. Also, some pretty earrings including big gold bent feathers and red rhinestones. Ooh la la.
