Yo ho ho and several bottles of rum...

Erin the pirate reporting in from the Vancover shop with tales of high seas adventure and daring-do. Or, maybe just a fun, pirate-themed going away bash held earlier this month for the fabulous Ms. Joe of White Rock (pictured centre).

When moving to Bangkok, a swashbuckling send-off is clearly the way to go, and what better way to rock the look of an ocean-going marauder than with the Smoking Lily pirate ship print? Yargh!

Wolfshire Coat

Today Janet (one of our lovely regular customers at the Vancouver shop) dropped by with her dog Casey. Casey is an adorable Greyhound - a rescue dog who raced for 6 months but didn't do that well so her life was to come to an end. Fortunately, there are organizations that put Greyhounds in desperate circumstances up for adoption; and there are kind people, like Janet, who provide happy homes and long lives for these strange and beautiful creatures.

Janet came into the shop wearing a blue Market Dress and then layered one of the new Wolfshire coats over it. She's a stylish gal who knows how to layer colours for maximum impact. And that red definitely has impact!

Bocce Bon Voyage

Steph took off on us the other day. She's flown away with her new hubby Ben, looking for romance and adventure all over the world for the next four months! For our goodbye celebration (the sort of celebration that's not totally celebrationy where you are totally happy and jealous and sad all at the same time) we played Bocce ball in the park! Trish lugged out a couple of sets, we all dressed in white (much to Steph's bewilderment all day at work) had lots of fun and even ate cupcakes! Fun was had by all...but we miss you Steph. We hope you are having fun, and we'll see you soon!

Thai Pants

Back by popular demand we have done a short run of thai pants in a heavy black cotton with tons of drape. We've added a couple of inches to the length at Rachael's, other that that they are the same. Available in Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large.

Contest!!!

We are having another contest.  We came up with a new shirt to take the Shipdisturbers place and now we need your help.  We've drawn a blank for a name for the lovely new shirt.  The shirt is made of the same great french terry the ship was made in, the sleeves are super long and we have added a great pocket. The winner receives one of these shirts hot off the press.  The contest is open to all non employees and the closes when the we receive the name we choose.  To enter just reply in the comment section of this blog.  Good Luck!

A visitor

As you may have read a few posts ago, there has been a mom seagull and her two babies on our roof for the past few weeks. The babies are getting bigger now, and also more curious about their surroundings...Yesterday as Steph, Aiko and I were quietly sewing we heard a thumping noise at the window. We looked over and there was one of the babies sitting in front of the window fluffing and tapping for us to let it in. We went over and said hello, and tried to throw it a few moldy grapes from the fridge but it didn't seem interested. We closed the window and tried to ignore it. About half an hour later Aiko let out a gasp and pointed into the printing room....there was the baby waddling around the studio!! Because it gets so hot up here in the summer, we often leave the windows open while we're working....we had left the bathroom window open and obviously that was how the gull got in! Steph and I worried over how we were going to get it out back to it's mom and sibling...eventually we created a stepped system of various buckets and stools and through a crack in the bathroom door we watched him cautiously and sometimes precariously hop to each level, and eventually out! What an adventure, luckily we got pictures! How cute...it wanted to hang out and sew with us!
