Cast Your Vote!

The Garage Sale is going to be here before we know it! There are so many decisions to make and things to do. This year we're leaving one of those important decisions up to you - what charities should we make donations to? Every year Smoking Lily donates a portion of our G. Sale proceeds to charity. Last year we donated locally to Theater Scam, TLC and the Food Bank. So, this year we'd like you to drop into our Victoria or Vancouver shop and cast your vote!

The ballot boxes will be in the shops on Friday, along with a link on the blog for our online Lily Ladies to vote too!

Any suggestions?

How about 'Design for Development' a local/vancouver charity.

How about "Our Place". They are continually seeking funds to provide more services to the homeless citizens of Victoria.

I'm with a Leadership Victoria group that is working with the St. Saviour's Rainbow Kitchen - a soup kitchen in VicWest that serves hot lunches every weekday to over 100 people - to expand the on-site garden that helps to supply fresh produce to the kitchen. We're putting in an irrigation system, building raised beds, and enhancing the compost. Heck even if you just give to St. Saviour's to support the Rainbow Kitchen - that's great too. They've created a wonderful community for people who need help and connection with others. Let me know. rosie.croft@hotmail.com Reverend Al is wonderful too, and I know you all have supported Mustard Seed in the past; they do wonderful work as well. And Theatre Skam is excellent. Thanks for helping out all these worthy causes and making this event benefit our community!

The Mary Manning Centre is a local not for profit society that provides counselling support and victim services to children, youth and their families who have experienced sexual abuse. The agency is continually seeking funding support from the community as the government....well you know what I mean...!!!

Yes, I echo the vote for the mary Manning Centre. This is an agency that helps children, youth , and families to heal from the impact of abuse. This agency has been doing great work in Victoria for over 25 years. I know that the money would be very beneficial to the children and youth who turn to the Mary Manning Centre for help when they most need it.

Absolutely the Mary Manning Centre! The work they do with children and youth is so incredible and they rely heavily on donations to keep providing these vital services. Today's paper just announced that Victoria's budget is taking a hit so now more than ever, supporting Mary Manning Centre is vital!
