Things from the last week!

For today's post I decided to do a synopsis of some fun stuff that happened in the studio over the last week!

First off, these adorable little nesting tables were printed last weekend with the "cherry blossom branch" and "scattered blossoms" screens.
They can be found at the Milkman's Daughter in Victoria.

Next, here's a montage of Rachel mixing up one of our 40 different ink colours (Airforce Blue--a nice, subtle blue-grey) for an exciting new project!

Here's just a shot of our awesome rainbow of ink colours that I get to muse over and pick fun combinations from every day (mmmm, such delicious colours... droooool...):

And lastly, the aformentioned fun new project is a redesign of our popular Wanderluxe sweater on a beautiful soft blue and a lovely spring mauve.
The above shots are of the prints that will be on the first runs of these awesome new shirts. You'll just have to tune in to see what they look like finished! Happy trails :)

Love Affair Dress

Spring is about to be sprung, I can see the buds yearning to open on cherry blossom trees and you can spy all the snow drops peaking out of the winter earth.

With so much life, maybe it's time for some new infatuation, mais oui? You can look fabulous while indulging in any new desires, men or otherwise, in our new frock the Love Affair Dress. This simple, classic pull over fitted dress is made luxurious via the material. A sexy sueded cotton makes it extremely touchable.

The Love Affair dress was inspired by the vivacious voluptuous va-va-voom Christina Hendricks (from the series Mad Men) and is a dress for ladies who love their body, any size or shape. It will be hitting stores this weekend so come to any of our 3 locations and try one on.

The Ivanhoe Bag

Fresh out of the Friday box here in Vancouver, we present The Ivanhoe Bag!

An awesome amalgamation of laquered painted canvas (another one of Trish's excellent creations - if you can't find what you're looking for, make it!), crazy print combos, practical pockets with tooled leather flaps, and a wide comfortable leather strap. It screams Spring! and would make a great book bag, a cool diaper bag, or just the perfect big purse. $220.

A treat for our blog readers today, a Sneak Peak at a new top still in design phase.  Made of sensual silk, it will be great for Summer or Autumn.  This jewel-tone top is soft, drapey and may be front/back reversible.  Keep your eyes out for this shimmery stunner, due for release soon.

New Dresses

Two new dresses arrived in the Vancouver Shop on Friday! Once again we commandeered Erin to play model for us. She was obliging and cheerful, as always, and looked fantastic in both dresses.

The black v-neck dress is a soft bamboo jersey. The cross front v-neck, the wide waistband and generous aline skirt are really flattering, and the pockets are cute and practical (it's always nice to have somewhere to put your hands when you're at an art opening or chatting at the water cooler).

The brown shift dress is nice light-weight cotton, in an adorable micro polka dot bodice with batik shoulders. The dress is cut in at the waist, and has additional shapeliness built in with an elastic gathering at the back. And once again...pockets! This time hidden on the side seam.

As soon as I have more information (like names of the dresses) I will post photos and details on the website.

Seeking Snow

I went to Lillooet Lake Lodge for a couple of days to ring in the new year and seek some snow on the wet West Coast. It was so beautiful and quiet and quaint... a really lovely time watching snow flakes fall and trudging through the fresh powder.

Although we have plenty more winter days ahead of us, it's time to be conjuring up Spring designs here at Smoking Lily. The studio is cooking up a full line of beautiful new garments to be in stores in the next few weeks. Patterns are being drafted, samples are being sewn, fabric is at the ready. We'll be sure to keep you posted on the exciting progress.
