Studio Update!

In the studio we've been busy bees creating some new things for the cool weather that seems to already be creeping up on us once the sun goes down. For those cool nights or windy evenings, how about a nice new selection of our classic Cape of Good Hope?

These will be available in three new colours: camel, brown and black.

And for the fellas a new colour of men's tee, Forest Green!!
These new creations will be available in stores tomorrow!
Keep on rockin in the free world.

Vancouver Update: Cute new things!

It's been a lovely couple of brisk, sunny days here at the Vancouver shop and I am really enjoying the rain-break (hello, suede shoes--nice to see you again!). Adding to the happy, Spring-y feel, we've got some fabulous new goodies in the shop:

This smashing, tailored jacket (yet-to-be-named, $142) is made from a denim-looking cotton hemp blend and has a great, rumply linen feel to it. It's not showing in these photos, but the lining is a fantastic shade of dark-ish petal pink that really says "Spring" to me....I also really like it paired with the dark denim Hester Skirt in a sort of "classy Canadian tuxedo" kind of way. Har har. (p.s. The insanely awesome orange floral top peeking out underneath is our Shaughnessy Blouse in a crazy new crepe-y silk fabric. $97)

The box today also brought the Cape of Good Hope in two new colours: a lovely blue and a soft, mossy green. I really, really love the all-over tulip print on the blue cape pictured above--is there anything more "Spring" than a cape covered in tulips? Or, for that matter, how "year of the rabbit" is the photo below? Hee hee...

A lovely detail on the green capes is the use of grey-green powder-coated zippers--awesome!

And last, but not least, are these cute red Underlovlies printed with anatomical hearts. Perfect for Valentine's! Ok, *barf*, I know, but I had to say it!

Victoria Store Update: The wonderful Wollaston!

While getting ready for my work day, like many of us I stood in front of my closet hoping to find something that is easy to wear, looks great, and, most importantly, that will keep me cozy! It's definitely fall here in Victoria--rainy, cold, windy, and lets face it, grey, grey, grey! I needed something from my wardrobe that puts a little pep in my step, and there it was, the new Wollaston. Now available in luscious grey wool, as well as TWO other geometrically inspired prints. I like to wear this frock with a long sleeve boatneck top, my Cape of Good Hope, and, of course on a day like today, my Wellies!

Pass on the Smoking Lily Love

The other day a woman came to us with a very interesting story indeed... she asked us if we could help her out...here's the email she sent to us!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Smoking Lily Ladies!

I'm Lori and I'm writing to you from Victoria.

Exactly 3 years and 1 month ago I bought a pair of your denim Thai pants at your Johnson street store. I was thrilled as I had worn my black ones for 2 years straight until they were so thin I could see through them. When I went to wear my new pants they were gone! Vanished! Missing in Action! I had no idea where they could have ended up and after searching high and low the mystery was eventually forgotten. Then, a couple of weeks ago I was sorting through some boxes in my storage shed and low and behold there were my pants still in the bag with the receipt ~ I was so excited! Then I put them on, or I should say "tried to put them on". Seems that my body has changed a bit since I bought them. (Sigh).

I'm sending along a picture with the original receipt. These pants are in PERFECT condition and have never, ever been worn. They are size small (not small-medium, just small).

I am wondering if you have any ideas for me. I thought about putting them on Craigslist but perhaps you have someone who you know would like to buy them. If someone has one of your capes that they are willing to trade then I would be open to that too (it doesn't matter to me if it has been gently worn).

I will look forward to hearing from you. Thanks so much!

A devoted fan and owner of many of your gorgeous creations,

                                            Lor

Fun Email

We received this email in from Andrea, a frequent mail order shopper, a few days ago.  I love her smile, when you look at this photo you just can't help feel the love. She was happy to let us share it with you, so we have a little something something coming her way.  If you have a photo to share us just send us an email.
"I bought a cape from you and wore it every day during the end of my pregnancy and I can still wear it now with a baby carrier.   This is definitely one of the best purchases a pregnant woman/ new mom could make. Several people have come up to me on the street and asked me where I bought the cape and I directed them to your site." Andrea.
